Get involved with helping local honey bees! Learn what you can do to support urban bee populations and habitats and the local food system that depends on them. Lecture participants will learn all about the complex world of bees, including their ecosystem, the social structure of the hive, and their relationship with a beekeeper. Other topics include agriculture, the food web, sustainability, and, of course, honey! Join the conversation to get to know the fascinating world of bees and walk away empowered to help bees at home. After the lecture, enjoy a short Q&A session and sales of local honey. Girl Next Door Honey merchandise will be available for a limited time after the lecture, too.

Presenter Hilary Kearney is the girl behind Girl Next Door Honey. She is a San Diego native with a degree in fine art from the University of California Santa Cruz. She began her beekeeping journey in 2008 and has been enamored of the subject ever since. Today, she’s an active board member of The San Diego Beekeeping Society and has shared her beekeeping knowledge far and wide as a guest speaker for podcasts, conferences, and events.
