Thanks to your support, a special needs kitty named Scooter recently found an adoring new family.
Scooter came in to our shelter as a stray who was unable to properly use his rear legs. X-rays performed by our veterinary team heartbreakingly revealed that at some point in this cat's young life, he had been shot with a BB gun. The pellet was still lodged in his spine and while it didn't pose any further health risks, it did prevent him from walking normally. He also struggled slightly with controlling when and where he eliminated, so our teams worked diligently with Scooter to best manage this side effect and provide him with a positive quality of life.
Despite Scooter's traumatic history, his resiliency and relentless capacity to love was an inspiration to every staff member and volunteer who met him. We knew he would make a wonderful pet companion for a very lucky family, which is why we patiently supported this special feline during the three months and numerous interested inquiries it took before he was adopted.
Today, Scooter is the center of his new family's world. One look at these photos, recently sent in by Scooter's new parents, demonstrates how the efforts we invested in this cat were well worth it. Scooter now has the happy life he deserves and your kindness made that possible.
Thank you so much for your generosity and friendship to San Diego Humane Society. Because of you, we possess the time, resources, expertise and staffing support needed to find a special home for every pet in need.
