Day of Giving is a special day that unites our entire community to celebrate our shared compassion for animals in need and support the work of San Diego Humane Society.
San Diego Humane Society Humane Law Officers are dedicated to enforcing animal cruelty and neglect laws so that all animals are treated with the respect they deserve.
San Diego Humane Society’s Humane Law Enforcement has officers in the field seven days a week, 365 days a year, handling a variety of animal cruelty complaints. Humane Officers get their enforcement powers from the California Corporations Code 14502, and can exercise the powers of a peace officer while investigating animal-related crimes. Humane Officers are appointed by the State and undergo substantial training in animal care, state humane laws and continue education throughout their careers.
Not only can San Diego Humane Society Officers issue citations, make arrests, file criminal charges and serve warrants, they also respond and rescue animals in disaster situations in San Diego and surrounding areas with the assistance of the Humane Society’s 24-hour volunteer-operated Emergency Response Team (ERT). Officers and ERT members provide emergency assistance to animals near and far and work with our Community Engagement department speaking to children throughout San Diego County.
By making a donation, you’ll help nearly 50,000 animals in need get the second chance they deserve this year. Your gift will ensure that San Diego Humane Society can provide each animal with the life-changing care they need, as well as critical services to the community. Together, we’ll ensure that:
- Nearly 40,000 homeless companion animals have the chance to find new families.
- 12,000 wild animals will be cared for by Project Wildlife.
- Our Humane Law Enforcement officers will respond to 25,000 calls about animals in need.
- Over 15,000 spay/neuter surgeries will be performed by our veterinarians.
- Nearly 3,000 fragile kittens will find a safe haven in our Kitten Nursery.
- Over 4,400 pet families in need receive safety net services provided by PAWS San Diego
…and so much more!
Thank you for your compassion for animals and the people who love them, and for supporting our fourth annual Day of Giving.
