When is the Walk for Animals - North County?

The Walk for Animals - North County is on Saturday, Feb. 22, 2020 at Kit Carson Park in Escondido.

 

What is the registration fee?

  • Adults (ages 18+)
    Early Bird: $10
    Feb. 1-Feb. 21: $20
    Day-of event: $30

  • Children (ages 17 and under)
    Early Bird: $5
    Feb. 1-Feb. 21: $10
    Day-of event: $15

  • Cat Nappers (Individuals who are raising funds but not attending the Walk): $10

All registered participants will receive a Walk for Animals T-shirt! T-shirts for Cat Nappers will be mailed after the event.

 

Does my registration fee count towards my fundraising total?

Yes! Your registration fee, although it is not tax-deductible, does count towards your overall fundraising total. It also counts towards earning prizes.

 

Can I bring my pets?

Friendly, on-leash dogs are welcome. Hundreds of dogs will be in attendance, so we do not recommend bringing other types of pets.

 

Can I bring my children and can they participate?

The Walk for Animals is a family-friendly event and children are welcome in all areas. All participants must register online or by calling 619-243-3469. Youth participants are also welcome to fundraise.

 

What if I can't attend but I want to fundraise?

Attendance on the day of the walk is not required. If you cannot attend, you may still register online as a Cat Napper and use the website tools to raise funds, or use a donation tracking form to raise money. Registered Cat Nappers will receive a commemorative Walk for Animals T-shirt in the mail after the walk.

What do I do with cash and checks that I collect?

We will mail a Registered Walker packet to each participant who registers by Friday, Feb. 7, 2020.

Walkers who register on or after Friday, Feb. 7 can pick up their packets at the San Diego Humane Society's San Diego Campus. Packets will be available for pick-up from Monday, Feb. 17 through Friday, Feb. 21 between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. or on Saturday, Feb. 22 at the Walk for Animals registration tent, starting at 7 a.m.

Your Registration Packet will include a donation envelope. Please bring the envelope with all cash and checks you’ve collected to the walk. If you receive cash or checks after the walk, please drop off or mail the donations in a clearly marked envelope to:

If you are not fundraising online, you can keep track of check and cash donations with this donation tracking form. Please print the form, fill out completely, and place it in your Registration envelope, along with your collected donations, on the day of the Walk.

 

How do I add cash and checks to my online total?

If you would like to add the cash or checks you receive to your donation total on your walk page, follow these instructions:

  1. Go to your 'Participant Center'
  2. Click on the 'Enter a new gift' on the right sidebar
  3. The next page will allow you to enter check and cash gifts

 

How do I keep track of my fundraising on the go?

 

Download our by adding our Walk for Animals Facebook app! It allows your Facebook friends to donate right on your Facebook page.

How are prizes awarded to team members?

Team members qualify for individual fundraising prizes based on their individual fundraising achievements. Team members are encouraged to register and raise money on their own.

Prizes are redeemed individually by email after the event. Once a prize is selected for each fundraising level achieved, each walker will receive their well-earned prizes by mail within 2-3 weeks. Walkers are reminded to provide a valid email address when registering for the Walk in order to claim their prizes.

If a team raises money together by holding a team event (such as a bake sale), a San Diego Humane Society staff member can apply the proceeds to the team's fundraising total OR proceeds can be applied to each of the team member's individual fundraising totals. How do I claim my prizes?

T-shirts will be available onsite to pick up at the Registration tent. After the Walk, walkers will receive an email with a link to choose and claim their prizes. Once a prize is selected for each fundraising level, walkers will receive their well-earned prizes by mail within 2-3 weeks. Walkers are reminded to provide a valid email address when registering for the Walk in order to claim their prizes.

What do I do if I did not receive my Registered Walker Packet?

If you registered after Feb. 16 or did not receive your bib in the mail, you can pick one up at the Pre-Registered side of the Registration tent at the Walk for Animals starting at 7 a.m.

How long is the Walk for Animals - North County?

The walk is approximately 2 miles long. There will also be a 1 mile course available to walkers who would prefer a shorter route.
